SIQ Management model for sustainable success

2021-08-24

On September 21, I will present NorDan AB's successful work with the UN Sustainable Development Goals at ICSD 2021, the 9th International Conference on Sustainable Development. The conference is considered one of the most important international forums for researchers, authorities, UN organizations and companies to share experiences with practical solutions to achieve the UN's sustainability goals.

In the article for the conference, I describe how we at NorDan AB have worked with quality development and sustainability in recent years (the article is published publicly by the UN only after the conference). We have focused on 7 of the total 17 sustainability goals and implemented concrete projects to improve sustainability and reduce CO2 emissions.

At the same time, we have used the SIQ Management Model to work systematically to become good at all three dimensions of sustainability, i.e. social, ecological and economic sustainability. By using the SIQ Management Model, we have conducted clear current situation analyses of all 5 criteria in the model, and put in place a good dynamic in how we improve and develop. As part of this, we have worked more with innovations in close collaboration with customers and stakeholders. The development and project behind the successes has been the recipient of the SIQ Quality Innovation Award 2019 and the IAQ Quality Sustainability Award 2020.

The vision "Perfect Interaction" is NorDan's guiding principle.

NorDan AB has the vision "Perfect Interaction", which is used as a guiding principle in collaborations internally but also towards customers and stakeholders. From many points of view, the company has also experienced how "perfect interaction" it is to work with the UN's sustainability goals and SIQ Management model to create sustainable success.

As a business leader with a keen interest in sustainability, I see descriptions of methods and concepts for how companies can work with the UN's sustainability goals from various sources. They come from consultants, researchers, leading companies and industry organizations. It is natural and important that such descriptions are given, as the SDGs themselves do not produce results. It is when you choose your goals, set your targets and implement improvements that you can approach the goals. Based on what I have seen of method and concept descriptions so far, it is my assessment that SIQ Management Model is absolutely at the forefront and offers a unique framework for companies that want to work with the UN's sustainability goals and sustainable development.
