Solar Bora in Linköping wins the Quality Innovation Award for its circular system of using solar panels in developing countries. Four other innovations have also been awarded in Sweden. The top prize, Innovation of Innovations, went this year to Sun Yat-sen University in China for a completely new way of transplanting organs.
During a digital ceremony on February 1, five innovations received the Quality Innovation Award in Sweden: Svevia, Solar Bora, Enbacksskolan in Tensta, Mellersta Förstadsskolan in Malmö and MAX Burgers. A few hundred viewers got to see the innovations that show the direction of a more sustainable society.
- Solar Bora: NextGen Solar Household System

- Enbacksskolan in Tensta: SO-Verkstan

- Svevia: Demand-driven sustainable winter road maintenance.

- Mellersta Förstadsskolan in Malmö: The reading strategy project

- MAX Burgers: Delifresh plant beef

Watch the five winners' presentations of their innovations. The program ends with an interview with psychology professor Angela Duckworth who coined the term "grit", the art of not giving up.
The Quality Innovation Award is presented in some 20 countries and gives innovations attention and the opportunity to compare themselves across national and industry borders. To win, the innovations must help spread knowledge, be good examples and inspire other innovators. In Sweden, the award is presented by SIQ - the Institute for Quality Development in collaboration with Vinnova.
International award for Solar Bora
Solar Bora's innovation also received an international award in the Circular Economy and Carbon Neutral Innovations category. Solar Bora has developed a solar-powered system to enable, among other things, cooking on an induction plate. Through a circular business model, the system is made available to people in low-income countries who lack the financial means to buy. 600 million people lack access to reliable electricity. The innovation is therefore of great importance from both a social and environmental perspective.
- Solar Bora works to improve the quality of life of our customers in the Sahel region of Africa. We work on both technology and business model innovation. Through this award, we not only get new energy to work harder to realize our vision, but also even better opportunity to not only recruit the right staff locally and internationally, but also create and build relationships with global partners and in the Sahel region local collaborations, says Linnea Bergman, CEO of Solar Bora.
The top international prize, the Innovation of Innovations, was awarded this year to Sun Yat-sen University in China for an entirely new way of transplanting organs that could completely change the possibilities of organ transplants in the future.
