2024-11-15: Enabling organizational dynamism: Leading and organizing for change

In today's dynamic environments, where flexibility and adaptability are crucial, it is increasingly important to understand how organizations can strengthen their dynamic capabilities to remain competitive during periods of change.

In connection with World Quality Week, we want to highlight new research. This morning we welcome Catarina Bojesson who recently defended her thesis.

Enabling Dynamic Capability: Managing and Organizing for Change, which is about how organizations can enable their dynamic capability and how best to manage and organize for change.

Catarina Bojesson, through her study, will share new knowledge on how organizations operating in dynamic contexts can develop adaptability to changing needs. Specifically, she will explore how organizations can be designed and managed to improve their readiness and flexibility for change. By analyzing the factors and mechanisms that affect an organization's dynamic capacity, we can gain insights into what causes inertia and how a transition to a more flexible and dynamic structure can be facilitated.

A key insight from the study is that companies often focus on internal efficiency to improve performance. However, successfully reconfiguring organizations in dynamic environments requires work processes that foster creativity and problem solving, as well as leaders who have the ability to adapt their leadership to the current context.

Welcome to take part in this important research and its insights on how organizations can develop their dynamic capacity and meet the challenges of the future with flexibility and adaptability.

Catarina Bojesson holds a PhD in Innovation and Design and has a research focus on how organizations can be designed and managed to become more dynamic and evolve in relation to their environment. Her research is particularly focused on the organization of product development in the manufacturing industry. She teaches topics such as strategy, change management, sustainability and lean production at the engineering programs in production and product design at Mälardalen University, and coordinates collaborative projects with industry at Mälardalen Industrial Technology Center.
