What is the Swedish Quality Award?

The Swedish Quality Award focuses on finding good role models and providing detailed feedback to all participating organizations to help them in their development towards world-class success.

The Swedish Quality Award aims to support the development of systematic improvement work at the organizational level and to highlight role models to inspire others.

Participating in the Swedish Quality Award involves a comprehensive description of the business, carried out by your own staff. When employees at all levels are faced with questions that you have chosen for your business evaluation, a new awareness of where you stand and what can be achieved emerges. This is the best driving force for improvement work.

Participation creates engagement

Participating in the Swedish Quality Award requires careful planning based on the fixed dates in the timetable. Participation involves a competitive element with a clear goal, which creates a positive commitment among all employees. Participating in the Swedish Quality Award can be one of the most important steps you and your organization take.

Why it's rewarding to be part of the quality award scheme

  • it provides an overall picture of your business
  • it creates a clear state of play, highlighting strengths and opportunities for improvement.
  • it makes visible the links between practices and results
  • it stimulates systematic quality work and provides a basis for further development work.

Three stages where everyone finishes

The first milestone is reached when your own work on the description of your activity is completed. The second milestone is the comprehensive evaluation carried out by a team of examiners. The team consists of selected and specially trained examiners from Swedish companies and organizations. The third milestone is the feedback report from the examiners - a document that brings together the organisation's strengths and areas for improvement. An action plan for you!

Example of quality development

The organization or organizations that are deemed to be role models for sustainability-oriented, customer-driven business development in Sweden will receive the diploma for the Swedish Quality Award at a formal ceremony. The organization or organizations that have come a long way in their sustainability-oriented, customer-driven business development, but have not yet reached the level of the Swedish Quality Award can, if deemed appropriate, receive a Recognition for Successful Business Development.

Rules for participation

Who can participate? The Swedish Quality Award is open to goods and services producing organizations or parts thereof in the private and public sectors. More than one award or recognition can be awarded. To be eligible to participate in the Swedish Quality Award, the organization must conduct an activity that makes it possible to describe the activity in a meaningful way according to the criteria of the chosen model.

The activities of the participating organization must be carried out independently, which means that it:

  • is clearly defined and delimited in terms of responsibilities, powers, results, etc. This should be documented in, for example, the annual report, organizational plan or equivalent.
  • is not primarily an internal support function for another entity. Organizations comprising several units with almost identical activities may participate with only one unit in the same year.

The participation of an organization is assessed and approved by SIQ . Decisions are based on information about the structure, organizational status of customers and the nature of the activities.
